Project Citizenship is starting a new spotlight series! Each month, we will highlight the contributions of a different naturalized citizen to our country. This month, our notable naturalized citizen is Ieoh Ming Pei.

I.M. Pei is a Chinese-born American architect who became a U.S. citizen in 1954. He has degrees from both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, and is world-renowned for designs like the glass pyramid of Paris’s Louvre Museum. He has also designed many buildings in the Boston area, including the JFK Memorial Library, the John Hancock Tower, and the west wing of the Museum of Fine Arts. He has received numerous honors for his work, among them the 1993 Presidential Medal of Freedom.
