A recent workshop helped put more than 60 legal permanent residents in MetroWest on a path to becoming U.S. citizens, according to Project Citizenship.
The organization, which is dedicated to increasing naturalizations in the state, held a citizenship workshop last Saturday at Framingham’s Memorial Building. More than 30 volunteer attorneys and law students assisted attendees – around half of whom were from Framingham – with their citizenship applications, fee waivers and other documents. The immigrants hailed from countries including the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Mexico, Italy and Ethiopia.
“The good work and leadership of Project Citizenship impacts the lives of families who are on their journey to becoming citizens,” said Congresswoman Katherine Clark, who co-sponsored the event. “My hope is that through partnerships like these, our immigrant and refugee communities will see my office as another resource in their journey.”
“The workshop was a resounding success,” said Veronica Serrato, executive director of Project Citizenship. “We could not have asked for better partners. The venue was perfect, and the results speak for themselves.”
