Good morning,

Over the weekend, immigrants came under attack.  All of our clients are green card holders.  As legal permanent residents, they are eligible for citizenship.

In the current political climate, U.S. citizenship is the only guaranteed protection. Particularly for immigrants from the seven Muslim majority countries being targeted, and more broadly across all immigrants of Muslim nations, this is a crucial time to understand the eligibility requirements of citizenship.  We will do our part.

For those who live and work specifically in the Muslim community, know that you have the unwavering support of Project Citizenship.  Project Citizenship has reached out to the Muslim communities and will continue to offer information sessions, training, and large-scale citizenship workshops to encourage all eligible legal permanent residents to immediately apply for citizenship.  We have the pro bono support of  many Boston firms ready to offer their services.  Project Citizenship will help in any way we can.

Despite the mixed messages coming from the Department of Homeland Security, we are advising clients NOT to travel unless absolutely necessary.

We have a long and difficult road ahead of us.  Immigration legal services are playing and will continue to play a vital part in protecting our democracy.  Thank you for your continued support.

How can you help?

1. If you know anyone who may be eligible for citizenship, encourage them to apply.  Contact us for a quick screening.  Call 617-694-5949 or email info@projectcitizenship.org.

2. If you speak Arabic, Farsi, or Somali, volunteer with us.  We need interpreters.

3. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay aware of our workshops and hear about citizenship updates.

Sincerely,

Veronica Serrato
