USCIS celebrates Independence Day by welcoming nearly 7,500 new citizens

 

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will present 129 citizenship candidates to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee during a special naturalization ceremony on July 3. Chief U.S. District Judge Pamela L. Reeves will administer the Oath of Allegiance.  The 129 citizenship candidates originate from 48 countries.

USCIS will celebrate the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our country by welcoming about 7,500 new citizens in nearly 110 naturalization ceremonies across the country between July 1 and July 5. Naturalization ceremonies will be held in venues across the country, and include several notable ceremonies.  Acting Director Kenneth Cuccinelli will deliver congratulatory remarks to 52 new Americans at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on July 2, while that same day, Deputy Director Mark Koumans will deliver congratulatory remarks to the new citizens at a ceremony on board the USS Constitution.
