Boston Citizenship Day

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s event on May 2, 2026! For those who couldn’t join us, we invite you to learn more about our several monthly workshops, where we continue to serve green card holders year-round!
What is Boston Citizenship Day?
Boston Citizenship Day is New England’s largest one-day citizenship application workshop, where hundreds of permanent residents receive free legal assistance to begin their journey toward U.S. citizenship.
Hosted annually by Project Citizenship in collaboration with the City of Boston (Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement), this event helps eligible residents apply for citizenship and fee waivers with support from attorneys and trained volunteers.

What Happens on Citizenship Day?
Boston Citizenship Day is a free, one-day event that helps lawful permanent residents begin their journey toward U.S. citizenship. Volunteer attorneys, law students, and community members come together to offer free legal guidance and help with fee waivers for low-income applicants.
Since Boston “Cit Day” began in 2014, we’ve helped over 3,000 participants, from more than 100 countries, complete applications and over 2,000 fee waivers.
