What is Project Citizenship?
Project Citizenship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps eligible legal permanent residents become U.S. citizens. We screen clients for citizenship eligibility and respond to applicants’ concerns and fears with qualified and professional assistance. We provide eligible applicants with information and assist them to complete and submit citizenship applications.
We offer our services free of charge.

Why should I donate to Project Citizenship?
You should donate to Project Citizenship because our work lies at the intersection of social justice, democracy building, and economic stability/security. A snapshot of who we serve:
- All our clients are immigrants – lawful permanent residents from 120 countries.
- Greater than 95% are people of color.
- 70% of our clients live below the 150% Federal poverty level.
- 12% are elderly; many older immigrants face English language challenges.
- 10% are disabled.
- 73% of our clients work in front-line, essential jobs such as healthcare, food service, sanitation, and transportation.
How does Project Citizenship coordinate with other immigrant agencies to avoid duplication of services?
Project Citizenship works closely with a host of other immigration agencies. Because of our laser-focus expertise, most agencies refer their most difficult cases to our agency. We also serve as a resource to other legal services and social service agencies to answer questions and present on citizenship eligibility and the application process.
How much of my donation will go toward programs?
72% of your donation goes to our programming which is to increase the naturalization rate in Massachusetts and Beyond. 17% goes to fundraising and 11% goes to general administration.

Can I donate if I live outside the United States?
Yes, but we only accept donations in U.S. dollars. If you live outside the US, your donation will be charged in US dollars and you will receive a mailed acknowledgement from Project Citizenship. These contributions are tax-deductible in the US. However, if you live outside the US, you will need to consult with your tax advisor to determine if it is tax deductible in your country.

Thank you for your interest in getting involved in our critical work! We rely on volunteer support to be able to serve nearly 2,000 eligible applicants each year.
